Situated on the beautiful Pacific Ocean, north of Puerto Vallarta, Mar de Jade is a beach front resort located in Playa Chacala. Boasting tranquil beaches and a lush coastline, Chacala is a picturesque bay and ideal retreat setting. From jungle hikes to beach walks, massage packages to a Temazcal, an ancient Aztec sweat lodge, Mar de Jade has many optional spa and wellness offerings for retreat participants.

Jen and Kathleen will alternate teaching invigorating morning classes and restorative, relaxing afternoon sessions. Both teachers believe in the adaptability and accessibility of yoga. They challenge their students to fully surrender and embrace the softer side of yoga. Morning and afternoon classes may include pranayama practice, meditation, and mindfulness practices.  All classes are optional.

Jen Asimow

Now an Associate Professor in Early Childhood Education, Jen has been teaching in one form or another since her early 20s when she was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa.Dedicated to correct alignment, safety and growth, Jen believes that students benefit from abundant feedback in order to build a strong and lifelong yoga practice. Jen is committed to creating a supportive and caring space where students can have fun while practicing. She is inspired to make yoga accessible to everyone and enjoys working with novice as well as experienced practitioners. Jen graduated from Bloom’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program in 2013.

Kathleen Matuszewich

Kathleen Matuszewich was introduced to yoga by her college modern dance teacher Anna Leo, while studying at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Kathleen continued to dance following college and practiced yoga, primarily as a way to relieve some of her body aches and pains. As her dance career faded into motherhood, her interest in yoga moved from merely physical to much more. Eager to deepen her study of and relationship with yoga, Kathleen completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in June 2015 at Bloom Yoga Studio. She is grateful to the Bloom family. Kathleen loves taking yoga classes, and continues to ponder yoga’s many gifts on the mat and off. She teaches yoga as she taught dance, with a respect to its function and form, a playful willingness to explore, deep curiosity and joy.
