What happens when you step away from the noise of everyday life for seven days?
When you put down the phone, the schedules, the responsibilities and the endless list of things you need to do—and give yourself permission to simply be?
Join Dave Porter for an unforgettable week of yoga, movement, reflection, connection and renewal on the breathtaking Pacific coast of Mexico.
Set between lush tropical jungle and the warm waters of the Pacific, Mar de Jade is the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with yourself.
This retreat isn’t about escaping your life.
It’s about creating enough space to hear yourself again.
Each morning, we’ll practice yoga together overlooking the ocean. Dave’s classes combine intelligent, powerful vinyasa flow with breathwork, meditation and moments of stillness—challenging you when you need to be challenged and giving you space when you need to soften.
But the yoga mat is only the beginning.
Dave believes that the yoga class is the training ground. The real yoga is what happens when you walk out the door and back into your life.
Throughout the week, Dave will weave his experience as both a yoga teacher and life coach into workshops and conversations designed to help you look at where you are, what may no longer be serving you, and what you want the next chapter of your life to look like.
There will be opportunities to reflect, journal, connect, laugh, have meaningful conversations—and perhaps ask yourself some questions you haven’t had the time or space to ask in a long time.
And there will also be plenty of time to do absolutely nothing.
Swim in the ocean. Walk the beach. Relax by the pool. Get a massage. Read a book. Explore. Take a nap. Sit under a palm tree. Meet new people. Eat incredible food. Watch the sunset.
One of the things Dave loves most about retreats is the community that forms when people step away from their normal lives and share an experience like this together. People arrive as strangers and often leave with friendships and connections that continue long after the week is over.
And Mar de Jade itself is part of the experience.
For more than 40 years, this remarkable retreat center has combined wellness, sustainability and community impact. Its organic farm, locally inspired food and commitment to supporting the surrounding community make it a place with genuine heart.
Come because you need a break.
Come because you love yoga.
Come because something in your life is changing.
Come because you’re ready for an adventure.
Or come simply because a week beside the ocean in Mexico sounds exactly like what you need.
You don’t need to arrive with a goal.
Just arrive.
We’ll take it from there.
Seven days to move your body.
Quiet your mind.
Open your heart.
Meet incredible people.
And come back to yourself.
Return home rested, stronger, clearer and more connected—not just to the people you’ve shared the week with, but to the person you want to be when you return to your life.
There will also be space built into the week for excursions, adventures and plenty of downtime.
One of the gifts of retreat is having enough structure to feel supported—and enough freedom to make the week your own.
A typical day may include:
• Optional sunrise beach walk or meditation
• Breakfast
• Morning yoga with Dave
• Lunch
• Free time for swimming, beach walks, spa treatments, exploring or simply relaxing

Dave Porter
For Dave Porter, yoga has never been just about what happens on the mat. It’s about how we live. Dave has been teaching yoga for more than 25 years and was one of the co-founders of CorePower Yoga, and helped grow what would become one of the most recognized yoga communities in the United States. His journey with yoga has taken him around the world. After leaving the United States, Dave returned to his native South Africa, where he founded YogaLife, building a thriving yoga community in Cape Town before eventually returning to California. Today, Dave brings together more than two decades of yoga teaching with his work as a life coach, retreat leader and mentor. But perhaps the most important part of what Dave brings isn’t on his résumé. It’s the life he’s lived. Like most people, Dave’s life hasn’t followed a perfectly straight line. There have been extraordinary chapters—and difficult ones. Reinvention. Relationships. Fatherhood. Starting businesses. Selling businesses. Moving countries. Beginning again. And learning, sometimes the hard way, that knowing what to do and actually changing your life are two very different things. Those experiences have profoundly shaped the way he teaches. Dave’s classes are strong, soulful and accessible. Expect powerful vinyasa, great music, breathwork, meditation, humor and moments that invite you to look beyond the physical practice. His coaching follows the same philosophy. Awareness. Acceptance. Clarity. Alignment. Transformation. Because Dave believes we don’t need to become entirely different people. Sometimes we simply need enough space to remember who we are. His retreats bring all of these worlds together—yoga, coaching, travel, community, adventure, great food, laughter and genuine human connection. There is depth, but there is also lightness. There is work, but there is also play. There is yoga, but there is also plenty of time to lie on the beach and do absolutely nothing. After more than 25 years of teaching, Dave still believes deeply in the power of bringing people together in a room—or on a beach—and creating the space for something to shift. The yoga class is the training ground. The real yoga is what happens when you go home and live your life. www.yogalife.com
