About the Retreat

This family-friendly week-long retreat with Rachel Rajput and Lael Humphries will be at Mar De Jade, a magical yoga and meditation retreat center on the Pacific coast village of Chacala, Mexico. Here we’ll spend 8 days and 7 nights deepening our yoga practice and enjoying a digital detox. Unwind in paradise with twice-daily offerings of yoga…feast on healthy and organic farm-to-table buffet meals, take a jungle hike, detoxify in an Aztec Sweat Lodge ceremony, enjoy pampering spa treatments, and much more. Swim in one of the several inviting pools, or take a dip in the ocean waters…enjoy a long walk on the beach into town…simply relax in a hammock overlooking the sea. We will also have an opportunity to visit local children at the nonprofit school run by Mar De Jade and tour their organic farm, and enjoy Stand Up Paddleboarding!

About the Teachers

Rachel Rajput

Rachel Rajput (ERYT-500) founded Left Coast Power Yoga in 2013 to bring a challenging, heated Power Yoga studio to the Oakland community. As a yoga instructor, she draws from her dance, theater, and improvisation background. Rachel weaves bits of Yogic philosophy into every class and hopes that students come out of her classes ready to take on the world like urban Warriors! She received her 200 Hr Certification from Laughing Lotus SF with Keith Borden and Jasmine Tarkeshi, her 300 Hr from Yoga Tree with Jason Crandall, Janet Stone, Jane Austin, and Annie Carpenter, and 100 hrs of Continuing Education with Keith Borden and Sean Haleen. Rachel believes that the power of your practice can make any of life’s problems, no matter how big or small, infinitely more manageable.

Lael Humphries

Lael Humphries (RYT-200) fell in love with the physical challenge of vinyasa yoga in 2007. Her first class recalls enormous frustration, with her breath shallow and red face contorted in confusion, though it also planted a sense of curiosity and wonder. The steady breath and serene transitions suggested by the instructor and exhibited by other students lit a spark of longing and inspired a mission: to find a sense of ease within the effort. Quickly, the vigorous flow of the practice began to demonstrate benefits far beyond increasing strength and flexibility. The desire to dig deeper grew, and in 2009 Lael participated in the 200-hour teacher training offered by her local studio in Colorado. She believes wholeheartedly that “Practice doesn’t make perfect,” practice simply makes practice, though the positive effects that accompany it are myriad and profound. Lael loves to lose herself in a moving meditation, and she endeavors to create a space in which students may drop fully into their breath, fully into their bodies, and thus fully into the present moment. She’s confident that yoga has something to offer everybody, and she strives to help others seek and find what that thing may be for them.
