The Power Your Practice retreat is designed to take everyone—from the absolute beginner to the seasoned professional—to the next level of their practice. After last years retreat I heard, “What felt impossible on Monday, feels easily doable on Friday.” Incidentally, we plan to have a blast while doing it.

Unplug from your day to day concerns and rejuvenate your body and mind. Come home refreshed, strong and with lots of good stories to tell.

About MELT Method

For those of you not familiar with MELT, it is a self treatment technique designed to mimic the effects of hands on bodywork. We will use small balls and soft rollers to release areas of stuck stress, increase flexibility and reverse the adverse effects of aging. We will also include MELT Performance Techniques which utilize resistance bands to strengthen the Shoulder Girdle, Core and Pelvic Girdle. These techniques combine to make you not only pain free, but better able to tackle the Pilates Repertoire. I guarantee that you will be able to do at least one thing by the end of the retreat that you were not able to do at the beginning.

Carol LeMaitre

Carol LeMaitre began her Pilates practice in 1985 at St. Francis Hospital’s Dance Medicine Department, the first hospital to offer Pilates as a rehabilitation method. Pilates was so successful at healing her back injury that she was able to return to her career as a professional dancer. She also used the Pilates Method to prepare for and recover from the birth of her two sons. Later, Carol started her formal training with Jennifer Stacey and completed it with Ellie Herman, going on to complete the Masters Program at the Pilates Center of Boulder. In order to better serve some of her more injured clients, Carol studied the Janda Method of Neuromuscular Reprogramming. She is an Advanced MELT instructor and credits her MELT practice combined with her Pilates practice with keeping her students and her own body in top shape. In 1995, Carol founded Sanchez Street Studios, a full service Pilates studio in San Francisco. In 2006, she joined forces with Sharon Gallagher to create a teacher training program, Pilates Education Lab. Carol has taught workshops for teachers internationally and teaches a yearly Pilates and MELT Retreat. She has created three mat class CDs reviewed in Pilates Style Magazine and available through ITunes. Her writing on Pilates has been published in Pilates Bridge and Balanced Body COREterly.

Jackson Grantham

Jackson Grantham began training in martial arts in 2008, then in 2010 suffered a setback after suffering a neck injury that required surgery. This injury led Jackson on his Pilates journey. After three years of a dedicated Pilates practice he was hooked, and decided to enroll in the Pilates

Education Lab Teacher Training program. Since then he’s returned to martial arts and received his black belt, all thanks to his Pilates practice. Jackson has been teaching Pilates since 2013 and the experience has been beyond rewarding. Fitness has always been a positive part of his life and he has enjoyed continuously learning more about the body through each movement system he’s studied.
