Essential Somatics is thrilled to offer our first Essential Somatic Movement Retreat, taught by Martha Peterson and Theresa Evans.
Whether you are dealing with chronic muscle pain, limited mobility, a general feeling of “getting old,” or you just want to move and play, you will find something freeing and enriching when you come to beautiful Chacala in Nayarit, Mexico, and learn to move with mastery and joy. This course if for EVERY BODY, no matter your age or activity level.
Through lectures, movement sessions, and interactive participation, you will learn critical, missing link information that will leave you feeling lighter and brighter, with a renewed sense of awareness of yourself.
Arrival: Saturday, January 19, 2019 by 3pm to Puerto Vallarta airport
Daily Schedule: Sunday – Friday (schedule subject to change)
Closing Circle – 8:00-9:00pm – Friday January 25th after dinner
Departure – Saturday, January 26, 2019 after breakfast

A full refund, minus a 5% cancellation fee, is available for cancellations more than 4 weeks prior to the start date of an Essential Somatics® workshop or training. No refund will be available if canceling less than 4 weeks prior to training start date.
Martha Peterson
Martha Peterson is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator and movement expert, founder of Essential Somatics®, and author of Move Without Pain (Sterling Publishing, 2012). She is a graduate of Somatic Systems Institute in Northampton, MA and certified by the Novato Institute for Somatic Research in Novato, CA. She is a member of the Association for Hanna Somatic Education (AHSE) and the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA). Martha teaches Somatics trainings and workshops across the United States and internationally and offers private clinical sessions at her office in Arvada, CO. She teaches clients how to regain freedom of movement and achieve long-term pain relief using the gentle and revolutionary techniques of Hanna Somatics. She has learned that the key to remaining healthy and mobile is daily, vigorous, fun movement, a regular Somatic Exercise routine, and learning the fine art of relaxation.
Theresa Evans
Theresa Evans, CCSE, is a graduate of Somatic Systems Institute in Northampton, MA, and Essential Somatics®. She also holds a BSN in Nursing. In 2009, Theresa completed her 500-hour Yoga Certification in the tradition of the Himalayan Institute at Yoga North in Duluth, MN. Theresa is a senior teacher on the Essential Somatics clinical teaching team as well as a mentor for those who are currently training to become Certified Somatic Educators. She is a certified teacher of the Essential Somatics Movement Teacher Training program. Theresa is excited to collaborate with Martha Peterson in presenting the Essential Somatics® Fundamentals Immersion Course across the US and internationally. Theresa teaches group classes, conducts workshops and retreats. She works with individual clients who are experiencing chronic muscle and joint pain, mobility issues, post-operative gait issues, those who want to breathe better, and “weekend warriors” who want to balance their extreme activities with a gentler practice. When she is not working, Theresa enjoys making music with her husband Pete, hiking and long walks with her daughter Stephanie, stand-up paddle boarding, making art of all kinds, and climbing the occasional tree.
