About the Retreat

Join Sharon Wentz and Kerry Maiorca on a getaway in lush, warm, gorgeous Mexico. Invigorate your senses by basking in 1-2 daily yoga practices surrounded by the ocean waves, swaying palms, and the backdrop of the beautiful banana and palm tree jungle. Enjoy three fresh local organic meals each day in an open-air dining room overlooking the Chacala Bay. Revive your lungs by breathing the fresh sea-salt air and the blooming bougainvillea. There will be ample time to enjoy both active and restful activities to invigorate and restore your mind, body and spirit.

Each day offers your choice of yoga experiences, all of which are optional based on what you’re seeking. You are welcome to choose, one, both, or neither of the daily yoga offerings – this is your retreat!

Schedule

• In the morning, begin your day in paradise with an inspiring, playful vinyasa practice to balance your mind and body with Sharon.

• In the evening, Kerry will give you time for reflection in restorative and gentle style classes; wind down at the end of your day in a practice infused with conscious breath, meditation, and deep relaxation.

• In between, feel free to soak up the sun, take a swim, soak in the Jacuzzi, and savor time to unwind and/or explore Chacala Bay’s excursions and adventures.

About the Teachers

Sharon and Kerry have a combined 35+ years of teaching experience and are pleased to share with you their understanding and love for the healing practices of yoga. Their classes are alignment- and breath- focused, offering creative sequencing and integrated themes, and they encourage each student to adjust and modify for their individual needs, prioritizing the students’ experience over pursuit of any particular pose aesthetic.

Kerry Maiorca

Passionate about yoga, writing, and creativity in general, Kerry is the Founder of Bloom Yoga Studio.

Kerry enjoys exploring the individual nature of yoga and encourages students to make the practice their own. Her down-to-earth teaching style emphasizes healthy alignment, gentle strengthening, mindfulness, and an exploration of conscious breath and movement. Whether teaching an active or gentle practice, Kerry prioritizes time for reflection, stillness, and rest. As a recovering past- and future-thinking junkie, she loves the way consistent yoga practice teaches us to live in the now so we may enjoy all of life’s richness.

Kerry has been teaching yoga since 1998 and has completed over 900 hours of yoga teacher training. She is an E-RYT 500 as well as an RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher). She received an MFA in Writing from The University of San Francisco and is the author of Thinking Yogi, a blog that examines the intersection of yoga and everyday life. Kerry is pleased to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors for Yoga Alliance.

Her passion for restorative yoga led her to become a Relax and Renew® Level 2 Trainer with Judith Lasater, and she has also completed a specialty training in Curvy Yoga by Anna Guest-Jelley.

Inspired at the transformation that occurs when yoga principles are incorporated into the workday, Kerry created Bloom Workplace Wellness and is committed to bringing yoga to corporate clients to provide tools for wellbeing and stress relief to people who may never have set foot in a traditional yoga class.

Sharon Wentz

While enjoying dynamic physical movement that simultaneously tones the mind and body, we plant seeds of change on our mat that foster mindful living, learning, and connection with our fellow beings. Regardless of what fills the hours, our yoga practice can significantly alter our experience and perception of what “is.

My practice began in my parents’ basement as a teenager. My sister and I giggled at ourselves balancing on one leg in Tree Pose, surprised at our struggle. I felt a refreshing sense of ease by a source of movement that was challenging yet kind, unlike the competitive sports I’d grown passionate and adverse to. I felt permission to work towards something without having to win. Through the years, time on my mat has improved the way I relate to the world.

An Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 500 Hours (E-RYT 500), I’m a Classical Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, though my teaching style is one that gathers intelligence from many schools of yoga. I graduated from Eight Limbs Yoga Center in 2004 (RYT 200), and The Temple of Kriya Yoga (RYT 500) in 2006. My teaching inspiration derives from exploring the dynamic healing and toning that occur through posture, breath, meditation, and the deep and beautiful layers of yoga philosophy.
